Directors of Alpha 00 Announced

A little over two months ago, we launched a search for six up-and-coming directors for a new talent development program by NTR/NPO: the thrilling police drama series Alpha 00.

This series follows a special team of police specialists who lead intense operations from a mobile command center at high-stakes crime scenes. Each episode will be directed by a different director, and we’re excited to announce that the six talented individuals have now been selected.

Out of more than 200 applications, we’ve chosen the following six directors to take part in the program:

Chris Westendorp, Morris Maturbongs, Rachel van Bruggen, Roxanne Stam, Timo Ottevanger, and Yim Brakel.

We couldn’t be more excited to be working with these awesome talents!

About the Series

Every episode of Alpha 00 presents a gripping new case, ranging from hostage situations to kidnappings and terrorist threats. The series offers a behind-the-scenes look at the most thrilling (fictional) police cases in the Netherlands, interwoven with an ongoing storyline about corruption and personal trauma.

The show is being written by Simon de Waal (known for Het Gouden Uur and Sleepers) and produced by us at Horizon Film, in collaboration with NTR. Michiel van Jaarsveld (Het jaar van Fortuyn, Van der Valk) is the showrunner, and Chafina Bendahman will serve as a mentor on the team.

Filming starts in January 2025, and the series will air on NTR in 2025 on NPO 3, with streaming available on NPO Start.

Alpha 00 is part of NPO’s talent series initiative, where NPO, the NPO Fund, and a public broadcaster team up to support and nurture new talent in the industry.
