New Crime Series "Suga" Announced with Gijs Naber and Elise Schaap
Horizon Film and Lusus Media are excited to announce the upcoming crime series "Suga" (working title) starring Gijs Naber and Elise Schaap. This new drama, set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in 2025, is created by our very own Diederik van Rooijen, known for shows like "Penoza" and "Sphinx."
"Suga" centers on Suga, the leader of a notorious motorcycle gang, who faces the challenge of reintegrating into society after being released from prison. The series delves into Suga's struggles with complex family dynamics and his criminal obligations. Gijs Naber, known for his role in "Judas," portrays the heavily tattooed gang leader, while Elise Schaap, famed for "Ferry," plays a relentless prosecutor hot on his trail.
The series is directed by Diederik van Rooijen and Michiel van Jaarsveld ("Penoza", "Het jaar van Fortuyn"), with the script penned by van Rooijen and Randy Oost ("Mocro Maffia"). The raw and gritty feel of the show has drawn comparisons to the American hit "Sons of Anarchy" and promises intense scenes of violence and roaring motorcycles.
Gijs Naber expressed his pride in the project, stating:
"It's truly exceptional to create a series like this. Every day, I was amazed by our work. This theme is deeply rooted in Dutch culture, especially locally, and I believe many people will find it captivating."
At Horizon Film, we are thrilled to bring this dynamic and culturally rich series to audiences worldwide. Fans can look forward to "Suga" streaming on Amazon Prime Video in 2025. Stay tuned for more updates as the release date approaches.
